We work closely with the British Association for Shooting and Conservation BASC and the four local wildfowling clubs on a range of conservation projects. We have created refuges for the birds, issue permits and patrol the shoreline during the shooting period Sept — Jan to ensure wildfowlers adhere to the rules of the scheme on Strangford Lough.
Strangford Lough is a unique place to visit at any time of the year, and in winter there's always a wide variety of wildlife to be found by the shore or in the wider countryside. The National Trust manages an incredibly large area of land and foreshore around Strangford Lough, including many islands and areas of farmland and woodland. With miles of beautiful coastline and huge stretches of countryside, Northern Ireland has a wealth of panoramic views worth capturing on camera.
